born 1970, is an grafik-designer (Dipl.-Designer and Master of Advanced Studies; ZHDK zürich). He runs for more than 15 years a studio near the alps.They collect a lot of national and international awards. Besides the projects in »classic« print-/editorial- and online-medias, corporate designs, strategy consulting and signage systems his work is dedicate to write and talk about design. he´s publishing books, columns – always interessted in the context and connection of design to society, historie and politics. beyond that, andreas koop makes contributions to the young and now constitutive discipline design resaerch.

Arlene Birt

Arlene Birt is a visual storyteller,‚ artist and design educator. Through her work, Arlene frames every-day actions within the context of the big picture in order to communicate consumers´ roles in social and ecological sustainability. Arlene´s work on sustainability ˆwhich rides the line between art and educationˆ has been presented internationally and featured in Creative Review (UK), U.S. News and World Report, BusinessWeek.com, worldchanging.com, SEED Magazine, and at the Barcelona Design Museum. Arlene has received a Fulbright fellowship, a 2010 Art(ists) on the Verge fellowship, several art grants and was a finalist for the prestigious 2010 Bush Fellowship. She holds a masters from Design Academy Eindhoven (NL), teaches design techniques to communicate sustainability at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (US) and works with companies around the world to improve their sustainability communication.

Arnault Garcia

Born in Paris in 1968, Arnault Garcia chooses to express via the graphic arts. graduate from ESAG in 1994 (Mets de Penninghen), he started by multimedia with the development of CD-ROM. The arrival of Internet was the biginning of his interest for digital world. He works for agencies and famous brands (Valois, Virgin, Manutan, Crédit lyonnais, Netgem,…) as freelance at once in the domains of printing and digital technologies.
He pursues towards large printing format, after a short passage towards green materials. Interested in ecodesign, he takes back the road of creative works, and music production.
In 2004 he joins the French Alliance of the designers (AFD-1st professional organization of the design in France with 1451 members)There he initiated a cycle of conferences with other designers, about ecodesign subject from 2006 till now, in order to create a think tank about design and sustainable developpement. He’s the AFD president since 2009. He worked on a charter about sustainable developpement in design.
Today he carries on with the creation of the website "ecodesigners.fr" to collect talents and informations about sustainable developpement.In 2010 he also created with other people the collective called "Les6D” (a network for the ecoconception with multiple skills).

Barbara Hahn & Christine Zimmermann

Visualizing Sustainable Development

Barbara Hahn (*1981, Germany) and Christine Zimmermann (*1976, Switzerland) have been collaborating on and realizing projects in the area of communication design since 2004. In February 2008 they founded their own graphic design studio ŒHahn und Zimmermann‚ in Bern, Switzerland. Within this framework they have been working on projects in the fields of communication design, information visualization and design research for domestic and foreign clients (such as Bank Julius Baer, brand eins Wissen, Deutsche Telekom Laboratories, New York Times Magazine) and self-initiated projects. Furthermore since 2007 they have been working part time as research scientists at Bern University of the Arts where they initiate and carry out research projects within the research area of Communication Design‚ with a special interest in the research field of Knowledge Visualization.

Daniela Pock (*1982, Austria) is part of the recently formed communications team of the Sustainable Europe Research Institute (SERI), one of the leading research institutes in the field of sustainability. With its scientific projects, SERI supports the vision that by reducing our use of natural resources it is possible to provide a fulfilled and happy life to all people, everywhere, now and for future generations. Daniela studied Sociology, Politics and Communication in Vienna and Sydney (Australia) with a focus on culture & identity and currently pursues her studies of photography at the Prague Photo School.

Helena Wimmer

Helena Wimmer (*1981, Austria) is a graphic designer and the co-founder of the Vienna-based design agency Studio Deluxe.

Born into a family of enviromental activists it has always been her aim to leave a positive impact in the world. After her degree at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (in MultiMediArt) and several years of professional experience she decided to combine her passion for design with enviromental awarenes: Studio Deluxe, a graphic design agency with focus on sustainability, was born.
Ever since Helena Wimmer and her partner Sarah Kehrer communicate sustainable ways of producing, consuming and thinking through graphic design.

Jan-Christoph Zoels is a founding partner of Experientia, where he is in charge of user experience design. In his work, Jan-Christoph Zoels focuses on people‚s experience of mobile services and applications, and on using information technology to support simplicity. As a senior associate professor at Interaction Design Institute Ivrea, he led the ŒApplied Dreams‚ initiative, and has worked with a wide variety of clients as director of information architecture at  Sapient and senior designer at Sony Design Center USA. He received his master‚s degrees in industrial design from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, USA, and the Academy for Art and Design in Berlin, Germany. He has taught at Rhode Island School of Design, the Jan Van Eyck Academy (Maastricht, Netherlands), at Samsung‚s Innovative Design Laboratory (Seoul, Korea) and Domus Academy, Milan.

Jennifer Shirey

Campaigns for Behaviour Change

Jennifer Shirey has a passion for using design to make life better for people and the planet. She is a recent graduate of the Master of Design program in Communication Planning and Information Design at Carnegie Mellon University. Before attending Carnegie Mellon, Jennifer worked as a graphic designer in Stuttgart, Germany, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for four years. Her work with nonprofit agencies gave her a desire to learn how to use the human-centered design process to address people’s needs in a more holistic way. While at Carnegie Mellon, Jennifer focused on designing strategic communications design for social and environmental issues. Her video for Fitwits, a Pittsburgh-based project that encourages families to engage in conversations about health, was accepted into the Pittsburgh AIGA 2010 Context exhibition. Jennifer’s thesis project „Designing for Behavior Change“ was honored with a kynamatrix 2010 „Innovation through Collaboration“ award.

Karen Stanbridge

Karen Stanbridge is an Environmental Psychologist who has recently started working in information design research. Her current work involves investigating the public’s reactions to the documents they are using in everyday life. She previously worked as a transport planner, with a focus on understanding people’s daily travel mode choices and the promotion of more sustainable travel mode choices over the private car. She gained her PhD by investigating the changes in travel behaviour associated with moving home, at the University of the West of England in Bristol. She is currently working in the Centre for Information Design Research at the University of Reading.

Currently, his research involves assessing the effects of differing information presentations on knowledge transfer, memory, and behaviour. As a trained graphic designer, with a BA in graphic design and MA in design research from the University of Wales, Newport his design education led to an enduring interest in information design, and the use of research methods to inform design practice. His PhD was titled Information Graphics in Health Technology Assessment, and focussed on the visual presentation of scientific research to decision-makers.
